As Monaco’s summer nightlife reaches its busiest period, Be Safe is once again providing an invaluable service to those who have enjoyed the evening but are no longer fit to drive…
Two free shuttles operate from Wednesday to Sunday, between midnight and 5.30am, helping more than 1,000 people each month during the summer. Each vehicle carries a driver and an attendant, allowing the person behind the wheel to concentrate entirely on the road while their colleague assists passengers.
One shuttle operates within Monaco, while the second serves neighbouring Beausoleil, Cap-d’Ail and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. Around ten journeys are typically made by each vehicle every night.
The association works closely with Monaco’s nightlife establishments and their valets. When someone is considered too intoxicated to drive, staff can contact Be Safe, while the customer’s vehicle is left securely parked for collection the following day.
The initiative was founded by Camille Gottlieb and four friends following the death of their friend Alexis in a scooter accident after a night out.
Born from tragedy, Be Safe now offers a simple but potentially life-saving message: enjoy Monaco’s nightlife, leave the car behind and make sure everyone gets home safely.
