Monaco’s efforts to raise awareness of violence against women have received national recognition after the Principality’s Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights earned two honours at the 2026 Cas d’OR Grandes Causes awards.
The campaign, created to coincide with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, received both the Special Jury Prize across all categories and the award for Best Campaign in the Fight Against Violence category.
The Cas d’OR Grandes Causes awards recognise outstanding public interest campaigns that combine creative communication, digital innovation and measurable social impact. They celebrate initiatives from organisations using media, technology and social platforms to promote awareness of major societal issues.
Monaco’s award-winning campaign, entitled L’enfermer ce n’est pas l’aimer (“Controlling someone is not loving them”), focused on the issue of coercive control. Central to the campaign was the animated film #BoiteNoire, produced by Subliminal Pictures, which highlights the often-hidden warning signs of psychological and controlling behaviour within abusive relationships.
Since its release, the film has been broadcast on Monaco Info and shared across the Committee’s website and social media platforms, where it has attracted more than 900,000 views on Instagram alone.
To broaden its international reach, an English-language version of the campaign was also produced with the participation of Toby Wright, Monaco’s Ambassador for Women’s Rights.
The double award highlights Monaco’s continued commitment to raising awareness of gender-based violence and promoting prevention through innovative public engagement campaigns.
