As Monaco welcomes thousands of visitors for Formula 1 Grand Prix week, the Monegasque Red Cross has launched a major medical support operation across the Principality, reinforced by volunteers from several European Red Cross delegations…

Around 270 volunteers have been deployed throughout the circuit and surrounding public areas to provide first aid and emergency assistance during the four-day event. To ensure the operation runs smoothly, team leaders and international delegations gathered for a series of detailed briefings covering procedures, communications and the specific sectors assigned to each team.

Volunteers from countries including Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland joined their Monegasque counterparts, receiving final instructions and equipment before taking up their positions. Particular attention was given to coordination, radio communications and the management of common incidents such as minor injuries, fainting spells and heat-related illnesses, which are expected to increase with warm weather conditions.

For many participants, the operation is an opportunity to work alongside experienced Monegasque teams during one of the world’s most demanding sporting events. While some volunteers are newcomers to the Monaco Grand Prix, others have decades of experience supporting large-scale events.

With preparations complete and teams stationed across the Principality, organisers say all conditions are now in place to ensure spectators, residents and visitors can enjoy the Grand Prix weekend safely, backed by a highly coordinated international first-aid network.
