Charles Leclerc produced a strong recovery drive at the 2026 Canadian Grand Prix, climbing from eighth on the grid to finish fourth at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve.

The Ferrari driver narrowly missed out on a podium finish after a demanding race shaped by changing conditions, strategy battles and multiple incidents across the field. Leclerc spent much of the afternoon fighting through heavy traffic before emerging as one of the strongest performers during the closing stages.

Starting from the fourth row after a difficult qualifying session, the Monégasque driver steadily worked his way forward through a combination of aggressive overtaking and well-managed tyre strategy. Ferrari’s pace improved significantly over the longer race distance, allowing Leclerc to challenge the leading group by the final third of the Grand Prix.

Mercedes youngster Kimi Antonelli ultimately claimed victory after teammate George Russell retired from the lead with a mechanical problem. Lewis Hamilton secured second place for Ferrari, while Max Verstappen completed the podium for Red Bull.

Leclerc’s fourth-place finish nevertheless represented an encouraging turnaround after a frustrating qualifying performance had left him facing an uphill battle on Sunday. The result also capped a productive weekend in Montreal, where he had already collected points by finishing fifth in Saturday’s Sprint race.

Despite missing the podium, Leclerc’s race pace and recovery drive reinforced Ferrari’s competitiveness at the Canadian circuit, particularly over longer stints. The Monégasque driver now heads into the next round looking to convert improved race performance into stronger qualifying results as the championship battle intensifies through the summer stretch of the Formula One season.
