Monégasque tennis player Romain Arneodo has secured a place in the final of the Geneva Open doubles event after a confident semi-final victory alongside Australian partner Marc Polmans.
The pair overcame German–Dutch duo Constantin Frantzen and Robin Haase in straight sets, sealing a 7–6, 6–2 win on Friday, May 22 in a match that tightened only briefly before Arneodo and Polmans took full control. They edged a competitive opening set in a tie-break before accelerating through the second to book their place in the title match.
The result continues a strong week for the Monaco player, who has been in solid form on clay throughout the tournament, showing sharp net play and consistency under pressure. Their semi-final opponents had pushed top pairs earlier in the draw, but were ultimately unable to contain Arneodo’s aggressive returning and Polmans’ baseline solidity.
Arneodo and Polmans will face the winners of the other semi-final, where Yuki Bhambri and Michael Venus met Petr Pála and Adam Pavlásek, with the final scheduled for the following day.
A title in Geneva would mark another notable addition to Arneodo’s doubles career, which has seen him compete regularly on the ATP Tour and build a reputation as one of Monaco’s most consistent performers in doubles competition.
For Arneodo, it is also a timely boost on the clay swing, with Roland-Garros approaching and momentum often proving crucial at this stage of the season.
