A 14–0 demolition of AS Fontonne Antibes has confirmed Monaco United as District 06 champions for 2025–26, securing the club’s first-ever title and a place in the promotion play-offs, all in their debut season.
It is now official. Monaco United are District 06 champions. The club, founded just last June, clinched the title with a match to spare after overwhelming AS Fontonne Antibes 14–0 on Sunday, March 29, a result that mathematically guarantees first place in the table and a spot in the promotion play-offs for the Régional division.
The achievement is all the more remarkable given the circumstances. This is a club that did not exist twelve months ago, built entirely from scratch by President and Head Coach Marco Simone. “This season, built entirely from scratch, was prepared in the best possible way and enabled the team to deliver on its promises by achieving its first objective,” he said. “This historic title for the club marks a significant moment shared by everyone involved in the adventure.”
Under Simone’s guidance, Monaco United have developed a recognisable identity: high pressing, controlled possession, and clinical finishing. With four training sessions per week from day one, the squad has grown into a cohesive unit capable of dominating opponents at this level week after week. “The team’s development has been constant, match after match, with progress in every area of the game,” the coach observed.
The title run-in began after Monaco United’s Coupe Méditerranée trip to Rousset, where the club produced one of the upsets of the season against a Division 3 side. They then reeled off four consecutive league victories, away at Mougins, at home to AS Cagnes Le Croc, away at Cavigal Nice, and finally the title-clinching rout of AS Fontonne Antibes, without dropping a point. Captain Houleyemata Deme described the emotion of sealing it on home soil: “Winning it at home, in front of our supporters, makes this moment even more special and powerful. It is a huge joy shared with the entire team and staff, a collective reward that brings us even closer together.”
As District 06 champions, Monaco United have qualified for the promotion play-offs scheduled for late May, where they will face other first-place finishers from neighbouring districts for a place in the Régional division. It is the next step in a clear upward trajectory the club mapped out from its very first day. “I am very proud of how far we have come together as a team since the beginning of this journey,” said Deme. “It is an important milestone, but also the beginning of something even greater.”
But before that, there is unfinished business in the cup. Monaco United face Hyères, a side playing one division above them, in the semi-final of the Coupe Méditerranée next Sunday. Should they prevail, the club would become the first district-level side in the history of women’s football in the department to reach the final, a prospect that perfectly encapsulates the ambition driving this extraordinary debut season. “We still have major ambitions in the cup competitions, starting with Sunday,” said Simone. “Our mindset is clear: stay focused and be fully competitive. We want to win as many titles as possible in this very first season.”
