The young basketball players from AS Monaco who had been stranded in the Middle East have now safely returned home…

The under-18 team had travelled to the United Arab Emirates to compete in a Euroleague qualifying tournament but were unable to leave Abu Dhabi after regional tensions disrupted travel. Thanks to a flight chartered by the Euroleague, the players and coaching staff landed at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport on Wednesday evening after transiting through Istanbul, where relieved families were waiting to welcome them home.

More broadly, the situation of Monegasque nationals and their companions in the region continues to be closely monitored by the Princely Government, with regular contact maintained. Authorities have confirmed that around twenty people who had been stranded in Dubai and Abu Dhabi were able to board flights on Wednesday and are now returning to Europe.

The Government has reiterated that the safety of Monegasque citizens remains its top priority. Travellers currently in the region have been advised to follow the security instructions issued by local authorities and to remain in contact with Monaco’s services.

Officials have also called for heightened vigilance for anyone planning to travel abroad in the coming days. Those considering journeys through the affected region are strongly encouraged to verify whether their trip is essential and to check the feasibility of travel arrangements, particularly with airlines, before departure.
