After six years of closure, Monaco’s Jardin Exotique is finally ready to welcome visitors back. The iconic garden, shut since 2020 for major safety and renovation works, will officially reopen to the public on Sunday, March 29…

The reopening has been eagerly anticipated by Monégasques, residents and tourists alike. What was initially expected to be a shorter closure stretched into several years as large scale structural work became necessary to secure the cliffside site. Earlier this year, officials confirmed the garden would return during the first quarter of 2026. That promise has now been fulfilled. To celebrate the reopening, entry will be free for Monégasque nationals and residents on the first day.

The scale of the transformation has been significant. Rock faces have been reinforced, walkways and footbridges replaced and pathways redesigned to improve safety and accessibility. The entrance area to the cave has also been completely reworked, bringing a more contemporary feel whilst respecting the character of the historic site. From the ticket office to the guardrails and flooring, much of the infrastructure has been renewed.

A new snack bar will also form part of the visitor experience. Named Le Bar du Jardin Exotique, the space will seat around 30 people and aims to offer quality, healthy options at reasonable prices, with a focus on environmentally responsible practices.

Before the garden is opened to the public, HSH Prince Albert II will be given a private preview of the revamped site on Wednesday, March 25.

Originally conceived in the late nineteenth century and inaugurated in 1933, the Jardin Exotique has long been one of Monaco’s most recognisable attractions, known for its spectacular views and remarkable collection of succulents. Its reopening marks the beginning of a new chapter for a site that holds a special place in the Principality’s heritage.
