On February 24, the Archbishop of Monaco visited the L’Arche community in Grasse, a residence dedicated to supporting people with disabilities and part of a wider network of forty such homes across France…

The Grasse site, supported by Monaco-based charity Les Amis de l’Arche, Amadarche, offers a peaceful and structured environment where residents take part in daily workshops including gardening, painting and sport, all designed to encourage independence and personal development.

The community currently accommodates 32 residents across three houses, while others attend during the day, supported by dedicated staff who help them live as independently as possible. From preparing meals together to participating in creative activities, the aim is to foster a family-like atmosphere where dignity, inclusion and shared responsibility are central to daily life.

During his visit, the Archbishop, Dominique-Marie David, spent time with residents and staff, joining them for lunch and observing the activities that shape life at the centre. He described the experience as a powerful reminder of human dignity in action, praising the sense of care, listening and mutual respect that defines the community.

While the L’Arche in Grasse continues to thrive, there are plans to expand with a fourth house to meet growing demand. To support this ambition, Amadarche is organising its annual charity gala on March 3 at the Auditorium Rainier III in Monaco, with proceeds helping to fund future development and extend support to more residents in need.
