More than a year after the closure of the historic market halls, the Condamine Market has successfully reinvented itself as an open-air community hub, continuing to anchor daily life in Monaco…

Now operating from a series of wooden chalets on the Place d’Armes, traders and restaurateurs have adapted to a new layout that, if anything, has strengthened the convivial spirit long associated with the market.

From early morning coffee to lunchtime gatherings, aperitifs and evening meals, the square remains lively throughout the day. Regular customers have embraced the outdoor format, enjoying the same fresh produce and familiar faces in a setting that encourages closer interaction between merchants and visitors. Even less favourable weather has done little to deter loyal patrons, many of whom still stop by for takeaway meals or a quick visit between errands.

Six market stalls continue to operate daily from 7am, maintaining their traditional offerings whilst adjusting to a slightly earlier closing time to allow for additional seating and shared dining areas. The temporary configuration has also introduced covered spaces and communal tables, further reinforcing the market’s role as a social meeting point.

This transitional phase is set to continue for just over a year before the fully renovated market halls reopen. Until then, the Condamine Market’s welcoming atmosphere proves that its true strength lies not in its walls, but in its enduring community spirit.
