French speed skiers have traded snow-capped peaks for Mediterranean sunshine as they fine-tune their preparations for the Winter Olympics with a training camp in Monaco…
For three and a half days, the national speed skiing squad based itself around the Stade Louis II, using the Principality as a backdrop for a crucial phase of physical and mental conditioning ahead of a packed competitive calendar.
The objective of the Monaco camp was clear: step away briefly from the mountains to regain freshness, strengthen bodies, and reinforce team cohesion before the resumption of World Cup events and the final run-in to Olympic selection. With competitions coming thick and fast, this was one of the few opportunities for the athletes to break routine and reset.
Mornings were dedicated to intense strength and conditioning sessions, tailored to the extreme demands of speed skiing. Afternoons offered a different rhythm, mixing complementary sports and playful activities designed to work on balance, coordination, and support changes, while encouraging camaraderie within the group. From paddle sessions to coastal walks, the emphasis was as much on mental recovery as physical readiness.
The skiers also embraced Monaco’s unique setting, attending a Ligue 1 match at the Stade Louis II and exploring the city with local guide and fellow skier Arnaud Alessandria, who works closely with the team through a long-standing cooperation between France and Monaco.
Now refreshed and refocused, the French squad returns to the snow in Auron, ready to chase speed, precision, and Olympic ambition.
