Nearly 200 swimmers gathered at Larvotto beach this morning for Monaco’s much-loved Christmas swim, turning a chilly winter tradition into a vibrant show of solidarity and festive spirit…
With the sea hovering around 16°C, conditions were brisk, but the cold did little to dampen enthusiasm as participants of all ages answered the call for this annual end-of-year challenge.
This year’s event carried a strong charitable focus, with funds raised going to support the Monaco Liver Disorder association, adding an extra sense of purpose to the early-morning plunge. Many swimmers arrived in Santa hats and festive accessories, transforming the shoreline into a cheerful Christmas tableau before braving the water.

Before the dive, participants warmed up on the sand, encouraged by friends, spectators and organizers. The countdown to the big jump was led by renowned free-diver Pierre Frolla, whose presence and energy helped set the tone for the event and spur on even the most hesitant swimmers.
As the countdown ended, the group rushed into the sea amid laughter, cheers and applause from the beach. For some, it was a test of endurance; for others, a joyful ritual not to be missed. More than just a swim, the Larvotto Christmas bath once again proved to be a moment of shared fun, generosity and community spirit; an invigorating way to celebrate the festive season in the Principality.
