The Prince’s Government of Monaco issued an urgent public warning on Thursday, 27 November, after a new wave of sophisticated banking phishing attacks was detected across the Principality…
As reported by the authorities, fraudsters are using emails, SMS messages and even phone calls that impersonate local banks and payment services in an attempt to steal confidential information, including login details, passwords and bank card numbers.
The scam relies on fear and urgency, with messages claiming accounts are blocked or that immediate action is required. Victims are then directed toward fake websites that closely mimic genuine online banking platforms. The government warns that even experienced users can be caught out by the high level of visual deception now being used.
Residents in Monaco are urged to remain vigilant and to never click on suspicious links, never disclose personal or security codes, and never respond directly to such messages. Users should carefully check sender addresses, report suspicious messages as spam, and forward any phishing attempts to cyber@gouv.mc before deleting them permanently.
Officials stress that no legitimate bank will ever request sensitive data by message or phone. With digital fraud rising across Europe, this warning serves as a stark reminder that cybercrime is now one of the most immediate security threats facing the Principality.
