HSH Prince Albert II visited the Galerie des Pêcheurs on Saturday evening to celebrate special exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Association Monégasque pour la Protection de la Nature (AMPN)….
The showcase highlights five decades of dedicated work to preserve, restore and protect Monaco’s marine environment, a mission closely aligned with the Principality’s long-standing commitment to ocean conservation.
Founded in 1975, the AMPN is best known for its management of Monaco’s Marine Protected Areas, including the Larvotto and Spélugues reserves. The exhibition traces this history through archival photographs, scientific material, and testimonies from those who have contributed to the association’s evolution. From early awareness campaigns to today’s advanced ecological monitoring, the display reflects both the challenges and the successes of safeguarding fragile marine ecosystems in a rapidly changing world.
During his visit, the Sovereign, a lifelong defender of the oceans, viewed the exhibition panels and met members of the AMPN team, whose work forms an essential pillar of Monaco’s environmental action.
Open to the public until January 4, the exhibition invites residents, students and visitors to discover the richness of the Principality’s marine heritage and the vital efforts undertaken to protect it for future generations.
