The Club Suisse de Monaco, together with the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Austria in Monaco, hosted members and guests for a special apéro on the terrace of club member Urs Fähndrich.

The evening’s centerpiece was the official introduction of Laila Schlereth as the new Vice Honorary Consul of Austria in the Principality of Monaco. Among the distinguished guests were Holocaust survivor Herbert Traube as well as H.E. Jean d’Haussonville, French Ambassador to Monaco and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, accompanied by his wife.

Around 120 guests gathered to celebrate the strong ties between Switzerland, Austria, and Monaco—ties that Laila Schlereth, as a German-Swiss citizen and Austria’s new Vice Honorary Consul, represents perfectly.

In his welcoming remarks, Club President Dr. Arik Röschke highlighted the significance of the
occasion: “Today we are not only celebrating a new role for Laila Schlereth, but also the diversity and
vibrancy of our international community here in Monaco. We are delighted to welcome Laila Schlereth, who has contributed to life in Monaco for more than 30 years, both as a representative of Austria and now as a new member of our Club.”

Laila Schlereth expressed gratitude for the appointment: “It is a great honour for me to serve in this role here in Monaco. With roots in Germany, Egypt, Switzerland, and Austria, I want to build bridges—between people, cultures, and ideas.”
