His Serene Highness Prince Albert II officially inaugurated the highly anticipated art exhibition “Couleurs!” at the Grimaldi Forum on Monday evening, joined by Princess Alexandra of Hanover and Ben Sylvester Strautmann.
The exhibition, which runs from Tuesday, July 8 to August 31, explores the evolution and power of colour in 20th-century modern art, showcasing over 100 masterpieces on loan from the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
Curated by Didier Ottinger, deputy director of the Musée national d’art moderne, the show features iconic works from some of the century’s most influential artists, including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Sonia Delaunay, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Vassily Kandinsky, and Amedeo Modigliani, among others.
Described as a vivid journey through modernism’s boldest experiments with colour, “Couleurs!” offers visitors a rare opportunity to experience the visual energy and emotional depth that defined a century of artistic revolution.
Held under the patronage of the Sovereign Prince, the exhibition cements the Grimaldi Forum Monaco as a major player in the European art scene, following previous collaborations with leading cultural institutions.
