The 2025 Environmental Photography Award exhibition, organised by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, officially opened to the public on the Promenade du Larvotto, celebrating the power of photography to inspire environmental awareness and action…
The event brought together photographers, conservation experts, and art lovers, and was graced by the presence of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. This year’s winner, Angel Fitor, was honoured for his outstanding work in environmental storytelling, capturing urgent ecological issues through his lens.
Several distinguished jury members attended the opening, including naturalist photographer Emanuele Biggi, photojournalist Aaron Gekoski, editor Tom Gilks, and underwater specialist Ralph Pace. The jury was chaired by acclaimed National Geographic photographer and filmmaker Ami Vitale, and included Arctic biologist and photographer Audun Rikardsen.
This year’s exhibition highlights a wide array of compelling visual narratives from both professional and amateur photographers who are dedicated to shedding light on the fragile state of our planet. Their work reflects a shared mission: to awaken public consciousness and encourage action to preserve our natural world.
Special recognition was given to contest chairman Sergio Pitamitz for his tireless support and guidance throughout the process. Thanks to the continued support of UISEK, the 2025 edition of the FPA2 Environmental Photography Award once again affirmed the Foundation’s belief in the vital role art can play in addressing the climate and biodiversity crises. The exhibition stands as a striking reminder of the beauty worth protecting—and the threats it faces.
