Artificial intelligence is making fraudulent emails increasingly convincing, prompting renewed calls for businesses in Monaco to strengthen their cybersecurity measures and remain vigilant against online fraud.

The issue was at the centre of the latest DIGITAL FlashUP, held at the Novotel Monte-Carlo on Tuesday, October 20. The event brought together businesses from the Principality to examine the growing risks associated with artificial intelligence and review the fundamentals of digital security.

As AI tools become more sophisticated, fraudulent messages can be harder to distinguish from legitimate communications. Businesses and individuals are therefore being encouraged to recognise warning signs and adopt good cybersecurity practices when handling emails and other digital correspondence.

The session provided an opportunity for participants to discuss emerging online threats, understand the risks associated with AI and consider how best to respond to attempts at fraud.

A practical example, presented through an accompanying carousel, highlighted the indicators that can help recipients identify suspicious emails, reinforcing the importance of checking messages carefully before responding or taking action.

The initiative forms part of wider efforts to raise awareness of digital threats among Monaco’s business community, as technological developments continue to change the nature of cybersecurity risks.
