Despite their substantial advantage, Monaco United continued to push forward after the break, adding further goals while also using the match to integrate new players and strengthen the team’s cohesion.
Centre-back Floriane Merlin, who made her first Régional 1 appearance of the season, praised the squad’s focus and team spirit.
The defender said the players had remained committed throughout the match despite the scoreline, adding that collective improvement would be essential if the team were to maintain their position at the top of the table for the remainder of the campaign.
Assistant coach Alexandre Gallet also highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline in such encounters, noting that the players had continued to follow their playing principles rather than allowing their concentration to drop after establishing an early lead.
With promotion to Division 3 among the club’s ambitions, the substantial victory also provides a significant boost to Monaco United’s goal difference, which could prove important in the final league standings.
The success was part of an outstanding weekend for the wider club, with every Monaco United team in action recording a victory. The U15s secured an impressive 7-0 win, while the reserve side maintained their position at the top of their own league. The U18s also claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory, with their coach Élodie Caillet praising the team’s determination while identifying finishing in front of goal as an area for improvement.
Attention now turns to the Coupe de France, where Monaco United will face AS Monaco FF on Sunday, October 18, at the Stade Didier-Deschamps.
The meeting will come just weeks after the sides contested the first-ever women’s football derby between two Monaco-based clubs on September 20, when Monaco United claimed a 3-1 league victory.
Having progressed to the next round with a win away to AS Cagnes-le-Cros, Monaco United will now look to carry their league momentum into the national cup competition.
Gallet said the team’s preparation would remain unchanged despite the importance of the occasion, with the players focused on maintaining their standards and securing qualification for the next round.
The upcoming encounter offers both sides another opportunity to make their mark on women’s football in the Principality, as Monaco United look to extend their impressive run and repeat their success against their local rivals.
