Team Malizia has set sail from New York aboard its newly launched IMOCA Malizia 4, carrying Monaco’s colours into The Ocean Race Atlantic, a new transatlantic contest covering more than 3,000 nautical miles to Lorient, France…

Led by German skipper and Yacht Club de Monaco member Boris Herrmann, with a crew including American sailor Cole Brauer, the campaign comes just weeks after the club’s flagship Tuiga (1909) appeared in New York alongside Viola (1908) during celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States’ Declaration of Independence.

Founded by Yacht Club de Monaco Vice-President Pierre Casiraghi and Herrmann a decade ago, Team Malizia has developed into one of Monaco’s most visible international sporting projects. Alongside competing at the highest level of offshore sailing, the team supports ocean and climate research, including through its onboard Ocean Pack, which collects oceanographic data while racing.

The latest Atlantic campaign highlights two contrasting sides of the Yacht Club de Monaco: Tuiga representing its maritime heritage and Team Malizia its focus on innovation and performance.

The team’s longer-term programme includes The Ocean Race 2027 and Herrmann’s third Vendée Globe campaign in 2028.
