The filing follows the club’s August 10 statement confirming its intention to pursue a CNOSF conciliation procedure after the FFBB Appeals Chamber upheld Monaco’s exclusion from Betclic Élite on August 1. At the time, the club had set an informal target of August 14 to reach that stage, while stressing there would be no further public updates in the meantime. That timeline has now been beaten, with the appeal formally lodged several days early.
Two developments mark genuine news since that earlier statement. First, according to Monaco-Matin, Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho had reportedly emerged as a rival takeover suitor as recently as Monday, before the club’s board proceeded with the existing plan led by former NBA player Jamal Mashburn as the basis for its CNOSF filing. Second, the outlet reports that an agreement has now been reached with the Monegasque government, described as heavily involved throughout the rescue process, a level of confirmed government alignment that had not previously been reported.
The broader context remains as previously outlined: Monaco was first denied entry into Betclic Élite by the DNCCG, the league’s financial oversight body, before that decision was upheld on appeal by the Federation’s Appeals Chamber. The CNOSF process now represents the club’s next and most significant opportunity to overturn that ruling.
