Monaco will once again place innovation at the heart of its sustainability ambitions when the 13th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge returns to Port Hercule from July 8 to 11, bringing together the next generation of engineers and marine technology pioneers…

Organised by the Yacht Club de Monaco, the annual event has become far more than a sporting competition. It serves as a real-world testing ground where students, researchers and industry leaders collaborate to develop cleaner, smarter and more efficient solutions for the maritime sector. This year’s edition will feature 54 teams from 21 countries, showcasing advances in electric propulsion, hydrogen, methanol, artificial intelligence, hydrofoils and sustainable materials.

The challenge reflects Monaco’s broader commitment to sustainability, demonstrating how innovation can support the transition to lower-carbon industries while maintaining the Principality’s position as a global centre for yachting. Rather than presenting concepts in a showroom, competitors will put their designs through a series of demanding on-water trials, providing valuable data and practical experience.

Alongside the racing, a free public village will allow visitors to explore the latest technologies, meet the young engineers behind them and attend conferences examining the future of alternative marine fuels and advanced yacht design.

For Monaco, the event is another example of its long-term strategy to encourage sustainable innovation across every aspect of life, bringing together academia, industry and entrepreneurs to help shape the future of maritime transport.
