Valentin Vacherot secured his place in the second round of French Open after a hard-fought four-set victory in Paris on May 26, overcoming a determined challenge from young French opponent Thomas Faurel…

The Monegasque player appeared in control early on, taking the opening two sets 6-3, 6-4, before Faurel raised his intensity to claim the third set and force a tense fourth. Vacherot eventually sealed victory in a tie-break after nearly two hours and 45 minutes on court in temperatures approaching 30 degrees Celsius.

Speaking afterwards, Vacherot admitted frustration that the match became more complicated than expected but said he was pleased to come through physically despite ongoing discomfort in his foot. He explained that the issue has been bothering him for some time but is not currently serious enough to force him to stop competing.

Vacherot will now face Canadian-Chilean player Alejandro Tabilo in the second round on Thursday. Before that, he is also expected to begin his doubles campaign alongside French partner Hugo Nys in the coming days.
