A Monegasque man accused of attempting to kill his partner in a brutal knife attack in April 2022 is due to appear before Monaco’s criminal court this week, in a trial expected to attract significant attention in the Principality…
As reported by Monaco Matin, the 33-year-old defendant, Jean-Charles Mulini, is accused of stabbing his then-partner 34 times inside their apartment at the Les Mandariniers residence on Boulevard du Jardin Exotique.
The victim, identified under the pseudonym “Fanny,” survived despite suffering multiple wounds to the neck, torso, back, legs and hands, with injuries to both a lung and a kidney. Investigators described the scene as exceptionally violent, while several sources close to the case later referred to the young woman as a “miracle survivor.”
According to the investigation, the attack took place on April 17, 2022, after the victim allegedly attempted to end the relationship. Prosecutors say Mulini fled to France following the assault before being arrested near Menton on the A8 motorway. He was extradited to Monaco later that year and charged with attempted homicide.
The four-day trial is expected to examine the couple’s relationship in detail, with around twenty witnesses, including relatives, friends and psychiatric experts, scheduled to testify. Mulini, who admitted the attack during the investigation, faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
