A special collector’s stamp will be released in Monaco this spring to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the marriage of Prince Rainier III and Grace Kelly, one of the most celebrated royal unions of the 20th century…

Issued by the Monaco Stamp Office, the new edition revisits the original 1956 design created to mark the princely wedding, offering a nostalgic tribute to an event that captured global attention and helped shape Monaco’s modern identity.

Presented in a refined retro style, the stamp features period portraits of the Sovereign and the future Princess Grace, alongside their intertwined monograms and the princely crown. The design is framed within a commemorative block bearing the dates 1956 and 2026, linking the historic ceremony with its seventieth anniversary. Printed in a limited run of 35,000 copies, the issue is expected to attract strong interest from philatelists and admirers of Monaco’s history alike.

The stamp will be released on April 18, the date of the couple’s civil wedding in 1956, and will be sold exclusively through Monaco’s philatelic network and at the Museum of Stamps and Coins in Fontvieille. Founded by Prince Rainier III and opened in 1996, the museum preserves the Principality’s postal and monetary heritage, including rare stamps, historic coins and pieces from the Prince’s own collection.

Seventy years after the wedding that brought Hollywood glamour to the Principality, this commemorative issue offers collectors a tangible reminder of a defining moment in Monaco’s story.
