Monaco embraced the spirit of Chinese New Year in style on February 11, as the Méridien Beach Plaza hosted a gala evening celebrating friendship between the Principality and China ahead of the festivities set to begin on February 17…

Co-organised by the Monaco-China Association and Monaco Dragon Prestige, with support from the Embassy of Monaco in China, the evening brought together guests for a vibrant programme of music, traditional dance and refined Asian cuisine created by chef Laurent Colin, alongside an exclusive presentation by AMC Haute Couture.

The celebrations come as 2026 ushers in the rare Year of the Fire Horse, a high-energy event in the Chinese zodiac that occurs only once every 60 years. Known as the zodiac’s “daredevil”, the Fire Horse symbolises passion, bold action and rapid transformation. Its powerful combination of fire and movement is said to intensify qualities of ambition, independence and vitality, favouring those willing to act decisively and embrace change.

This dynamic year is often associated with breaking old patterns and embracing new opportunities, encouraging confidence, courage and creativity. While its energy can at times be unpredictable, it is widely seen as a period that rewards initiative and resilience.

Against this symbolic backdrop, Monaco’s celebration highlighted the strong cultural and diplomatic ties between the Principality and China, bringing together communities in an atmosphere of warmth, elegance and shared optimism for the year ahead.
