Nearly one year after its launch in February 2025, the political movement Génération Monaco, led by former National Councillor Marc Mourou, has taken stock of its first year of activity, presenting itself as an intergenerational platform built around transparency, ethics and consultation with citizens…
Created with the aim of re-engaging Monegasques in public life outside of election periods, the movement chose to begin its work well ahead of the 2028 National Council elections. Today, Génération Monaco counts close to 30 members on its steering committee and seven founding members in its executive board, all Monegasque, combining experienced former elected officials with newcomers who had never previously taken part in political life.
Over the past year, the movement has organised five public conference-debates on key themes including health, attractiveness, education, sport and culture, each attracting around 150 participants. These evenings bring together panels of professionals who outline future challenges and engage directly with the public in open discussions, a format designed to encourage informed dialogue rather than political messaging.
Beyond these conferences, Génération Monaco has also launched thematic working groups, bringing together more than 70 volunteers who meet monthly to develop ideas and concrete proposals. According to Mourou, who spoke exclusively to Monaco Info, these discussions will feed into the movement’s future political programme, alongside new formats set to be introduced in 2026 to broaden participation.
During the interview, the movement’s president confirmed that Génération Monaco will present a list in the 2028 National Council elections, positioning the current phase as one of preparation, consultation and long-term reflection. With sustained attendance at events and increasing grassroots involvement, Génération Monaco says it is now focused on transforming public debate into structured proposals, as it continues to build its platform for the next electoral cycle.
