A new initiative known as MonaBam is beginning to take shape with the ambition of strengthening ties between Monaco and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas across four key areas: Education, Science, Economy and Culture…
Still in its early stages, the project is being developed under the auspices of the Honorary Consulate of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas in Monaco, led by Honorary Consul Count Niccolò Caissotti de Chiusano, with the aim of creating a structured and lasting framework for cooperation between the two nations.
Earlier this week, the initiative reached its first public milestone through an educational event hosted by the International University of Monaco (IUM). In coordination with the Honorary Consulate, IUM organised its first LunchBreak Webinar, a concise 20-minute online session aimed at high-school students in The Bahamas. Timed to suit both territories, the webinar connected Monaco with students across New Providence, Abaco and Grand Bahama, offering them an introduction to academic life in the Principality and the opportunities available at IUM.
The session was led by Iryna Brykova, Head of International Admissions at IUM, alongside two current students, who shared first-hand insights into studying and living in Monaco. Participating schools included several international institutions across the islands, marking a coordinated outreach effort between the two countries.
The webinar represents the first concrete step within MonaBam’s Education pillar, described as “Monaco welcoming The Bahamas”. According to those involved, further initiatives are planned from 2026 onwards, with the longer-term ambition of developing multiple projects each year across all four pillars, fostering sustained exchange and collaboration between Monaco and The Bahamas.
