The Rainier III Academy has once again proven itself as a cradle of artistic excellence, as students delivered two triumphant gala performances that left audiences captivated and critics impressed.

The musical gala, held on Wednesday, June 18 at the Auditorium Rainier III, showcased some of the Academy’s most promising young talents in collaboration with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra. The evening opened with a spellbinding set of solo performances: Camila Lopez Morales delighted with her mastery of Bach’s Concerto in F minor on the harpsichord, Anaïd Conquet mesmerised on the harp with Debussy’s Danse sacrée et Danse profane, and Zoé Ghersi took centre stage for a unique double guitar concerto, performing alongside her teacher and composer of the piece, Philippe Loli.

The second half of the evening highlighted the Academy’s breadth of musical training, from chamber ensembles to brass performances, with a particularly enchanting moment delivered by the Children’s Choir. Their playful, a cappella rendition of Camille’s Allez, allez, allez, complete with tap dance accompaniment, charmed the audience with its creativity and precision.

The grand finale saw 150 student musicians and singers unite for a stirring performance of Hubert Parry’s Jerusalem, bringing the evening to a moving and majestic close.

A week later, on Wednesday, June 25, it was the turn of the drama department to step into the spotlight at the Théâtre Princesse Grace. Students from the Academy’s advanced theatre cycles delivered a spirited and hilarious production of Georges Feydeau’s classic farce Un fil à la patte. Under the expert direction of theatre professor Catherine Lefèbvre, the cast’s impeccable comedic timing and energy brought the house down, earning them a standing ovation after nearly two hours of non-stop laughter.

Among those applauding the young performers was Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy, who attended both galas in support of Monaco’s rising generation of artists.

The festivities continued on Thursday, June 26, with the Academy’s annual awards ceremony in the Cour d’Honneur of the Town Hall, celebrating not only individual achievement but the Academy’s ongoing mission to nurture professional excellence in the performing arts.
