At the Lycée Albert Ier and François d’Assise-Nicolas Barré, literature recently took centre stage as 36 second-year students transformed into authors for the 15th edition of the Prix des Jeunes Lycéens…

As part of the broader Rencontres Littéraires Fabienne Boisson, this creative initiative gave students the opportunity to explore self-expression and storytelling, turning writing into a dynamic and even musical experience.

This year’s participants were invited to write on one of two themes, with “being and appearance” resonating most deeply with the young writers. The chosen topic encouraged introspection and reflection on identity, what is seen versus what is truly felt. The experience not only enhanced their creative thinking but also gave many students a platform to find their voice, with some even discovering new confidence through the process.

Literature became more than just a subject; it was a living, shared experience. From writing and debating to dedications and karaoke performances, the event celebrated the power of words in all forms. As one student remarked, the workshop helped them think more deeply and creatively—and they would do it all again with a new subject.

In September, these budding authors will participate in the Monaco International Book Fair, where they’ll meet fellow writers and readers, further bridging the gap between youth and the literary world.
