The Olympian Clean Up returned for its fourth edition on Saturday, bringing together representatives from the Monegasque Sanitation Company and members of the Monegasque Association of Olympic Athletes for a meaningful morning of action and community…

Organised as an eco-conscious hike, the event aimed to collect visible waste along scenic routes from the Place du Palais to La Turbie, while promoting shared values and respect for the environment.

With schoolchildren joining in, the clean-up was more than just an environmental gesture—it became a powerful lesson in civic responsibility. Equipped with white bags for general waste and yellow bags for recyclables, participants gathered cans, plastic bottles, and other discarded items while learning the importance of waste sorting and environmental protection.

Beyond the act of picking up rubbish, the Olympian Clean Up served as a platform to instil the three core Olympic values: excellence, friendship, and respect. “When we throw something on the ground, we’re damaging our future,” said one young participant. “We’re punishing ourselves by hurting the planet.”

The event also fostered intergenerational dialogue, as athletes and students shared moments of reflection during the walk. For organisers, this sense of unity and environmental awareness is exactly what the initiative aims to cultivate.

With sunshine overhead and a collective spirit driving the effort, the Olympian Clean Up proved once again to be a powerful and symbolic initiative—encouraging younger generations to care for their environment, together.
