In a powerful address to the United Nations Human Rights Council, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, Monaco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, reaffirmed the Principality’s unwavering commitment to human rights and international law. Her pre-recorded speech, delivered during the High-Level Segment of the Council’s 58th session, highlighted Monaco’s dedication to supporting the fundamental principles of the United Nations.

Speaking against the backdrop of growing global challenges, Berro-Amadeï underscored the invaluable role of investigative mechanisms established by the Council in documenting human rights violations. She stressed that these efforts are essential in ensuring accountability and combating impunity worldwide. Acknowledging the increasing complexity of human rights concerns, she emphasized the need for collective action to address emerging global crises.

Among the critical issues she highlighted were climate change, environmental degradation, and the rapid development of artificial intelligence—challenges that demand urgent and coordinated international responses. She reiterated Monaco’s steadfast political and financial support for the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, ensuring it has the necessary resources to tackle these pressing concerns.

“The work carried out by the Human Rights Council is more crucial than ever,” Berro-Amadeï stated. “By upholding accountability and reinforcing the mechanisms that protect fundamental freedoms, we strengthen the global pursuit of justice and equality.”
