The Monte-Carlo Spring of Arts will make its much-anticipated return to the Principality from March 2 to April 27, bringing together 400 artists, 40 composers, and 80 works performed across Monaco’s most prestigious venues…

This year’s edition is dedicated to celebrating the centenary of Pierre Boulez, the visionary composer, conductor, and musicologist whose influence spanned multiple artistic disciplines.

Festival Artistic Director Bruno Mantovani presented the program’s highlights to the Monaco Foreign Residents Club, emphasizing how the event will intertwine music with literature, dance, and visual arts, reflecting Boulez’s multidisciplinary approach to creativity. Francis Béon, a close friend of Boulez, has carefully curated a selection of visual artworks to complement the performances, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to artistic synergy.

Poetry, an essential element of Boulez’s intellectual landscape, will feature prominently, with readings from renowned poets such as René Char and Henri Michaux, whose work profoundly influenced the composer. The festival will also revisit Boulez’s deep connection with theatre, particularly through Patrice Chéreau’s legendary opera productions, including a screening of From the House of the Dead, the final opera directed by Chéreau in collaboration with Boulez.

Dance will also take centre stage with a choreography by Marco Goecke, set to Transfigured Night, a work frequently conducted by Boulez. In addition to performances, a series of roundtable discussions will offer audiences deeper insights into the composer’s artistic legacy.

Adding to the festival’s prestige, the BBC Symphony Orchestra will take up residency in Monaco, presenting two exceptional concerts. With its blend of musical innovation and artistic exploration, the 2025 Monte-Carlo Spring of Arts promises to be an unforgettable cultural celebration.
