With just days to go before the highly anticipated Grand Final of the Super Sevens, the Monaco Rugby Sevens squad gathered for their final training session at the Stade Prince Héréditaire Jacques before heading to Paris…
The team, which has undergone significant changes since their last major success in Pau six months ago, is fine-tuning its tactics, focusing on attack-defence drills, psychomotor exercises, and ball-handling skills to build synergy among players.
With only eight days together, players and coaches recognize the challenge of forming a cohesive unit in a short time. The focus, according to team leaders, is on details, communication, and knowing each other’s roles to ensure seamless on-field coordination.
This year, 50% of the squad has changed, with many players away on international duty in the World Series. Despite this, the team remains under the experienced guidance of head coach James Kent, with a major boost coming from the arrival of Fulgence Ouedraogo as the new general manager. The former French international and Sevens legend is expected to bring tactical expertise and leadership to Monaco’s campaign.
The team will complete its final preparations in Paris on Friday with the traditional captain’s run, marking the eve of the competition. With a strong legacy in the Super Sevens, Monaco Rugby Sevens aims to reclaim victory and showcase their dominance in the fast-paced, high-intensity format of the game.
