The 6th plenary session of the Committee for the Promotion and Protection of Women’s Rights brought together key representatives from Monaco’s institutions, judicial services, state departments, and associations advocating for women’s rights. Chaired by Isabelle Berro-Amadeï, the meeting highlighted the significant strides made by the Committee since its establishment in 2018. Recognised both locally and internationally, the Committee has become a driving force in Monaco’s efforts to promote gender equality and combat violence against women.

The session began with a moment of silence in tribute to H.E. Didier Guillaume. Céline Cottalorda, Monaco’s Interministerial Delegate for Women’s Rights, reviewed the achievements of 2024, underscoring efforts to raise awareness and drive meaningful change. Campaigns such as “POWHER,” brought together diverse voices advocating for equality, while the November 25 initiative shed light on invisible forms of violence through digital storytelling and public discussions. New tools, including a relationship violence scale, were introduced to better understand harmful dynamics, particularly among youth. In addition, training programs reached nearly 100 professionals addressing domestic violence and over 200 state employees working to combat workplace sexism.

Cottalorda highlighted the importance of embedding women’s rights in Monaco’s public consciousness, noting the need to include more men in the fight for equality. She stressed that fostering collaboration and addressing gaps, such as wage disparities, remain essential for sustained progress.

In her closing remarks, Isabelle Berro-Amadeï reflected on the global challenges women continue to face, including poverty, conflict, violence, and unequal access to education and social protection. She expressed gratitude to all stakeholders for their dedication and emphasised that achieving gender equality requires the collective effort of all.

The next major event for the Committee will take place on Saturday, March 8, at the Espace Léo Ferré, as Monaco marks International Women’s Day with a full day of activities and discussions.
