The Monte-Carlo Rally returns for its 93rd edition, maintaining its place as the inaugural event of the FIA World Rally Championship, with this year’s highly anticipated race set to deliver unparalleled excitement and challenges…

The 2025 rally officially kicks off today, January 23, in the iconic Casino Square of Monaco, bringing together elite drivers to navigate a grueling course through the Alpes-Maritimes, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, and Drôme regions. After a thrilling opening ceremony, the event will culminate on January 26 with a prize-giving ceremony on Monaco’s Casino Square.

This year, the rally returns to Gap, the historic host town from 2014 to 2021 and again in 2024. Known for its demanding and unpredictable terrain, the route promises to test competitors’ skill and strategy with narrow, winding roads and varying weather conditions, including snow and ice on the legendary Col de Turini, which features as the Power Stage finale.

The 2024 edition saw Belgian driver Thierry Neuville dominate, claiming his second Monte-Carlo victory. Meanwhile, Sébastien Ogier, the rally’s all-time champion with nine wins, faced personal challenges but demonstrated true sportsmanship. As this year’s participants prepare, they follow in the tire tracks of motorsport legends like Ogier and Monaco’s own Daniel Eléna.

In addition to the competition, the rally serves as a sustainability pioneer. The introduction of hybrid “Rally1” cars and 100% sustainable fuel showcases the WRC’s commitment to environmental innovation, setting the tone for the future of motorsport.

From its origins in 1911 as a promotional event for Monaco, the Monte-Carlo Rally has grown into a global spectacle. With a century of history, it continues to blend tradition, innovation, and unparalleled excitement, cementing Monaco’s position as a motorsport capital.
