As per tradition, the Mairie de Monaco has shared the civil registry data for the past year, highlighting key life events such as births, marriages, and deaths among residents and visitors to the Principality…
These records, maintained since the 16th century, provide a fascinating glimpse into Monaco’s demographic trends.
In 2024, Monaco recorded 721 births, slightly down from 804 in 2023. Of these, 399 were boys and 322 girls. The Princess Grace Hospital (CHPG) saw 720 deliveries, with one birth occurring at home. The majority of births (519) involved families residing outside Monaco, primarily in Menton, Beausoleil, and Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. Notably, the most popular names for girls included Rose, Victoria, and Emma, while Jules, Léo, and Lorenzo topped the list for boys.
The year also saw 509 deaths, a decrease from 538 in 2023, with an almost equal split between men (255) and women (254). Most deaths occurred in hospitals (82%), with smaller percentages in clinics and retirement homes.
Marriages in Monaco totalled 176, down from 194 the previous year. These included six unions between Monegasque citizens, while the majority involved mixed or foreign couples. Conversely, divorces increased slightly, with 66 cases recorded in 2024 compared to 64 in 2023.
