Fabrice Morénon, director of the Monaco-Monte Carlo station and head of SNCF Hubs & Connexions, has been awarded the distinguished rank of Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. The accolade was presented on December 18, during a ceremony at the Hôtel de Roquelaure in Paris, the headquarters of the Ministry of Ecological Transition. Morénon, who also holds the title of French Foreign Trade Advisor, was recognised for his significant contributions to public service, commerce, and railway innovation.
Humbled by the honour, Morénon expressed gratitude, calling it a source of pride and an extraordinary acknowledgment of his work. This recognition follows his receipt of the National Order of Merit in 2016, further solidifying his standing as a leader in his field. The decoration was presented by François Durovray, the outgoing French Minister of Transport, who commended Morénon for his dedication to advancing railway systems both in France and abroad.
Under Morénon’s leadership, Monaco’s train station has undergone substantial modernisation. In April 2024, a groundbreaking AI-powered system was integrated into the station’s surveillance cameras, enabling real-time passenger flow tracking. This innovation has not only improved operational efficiency but also captured international interest, with Morénon showcasing the project in Dubai. Additional enhancements include the creation of connected workspaces in partnership with the Extended Monaco initiative and the hosting of cultural exhibitions, transforming the station into more than just a transit hub.
Looking ahead to 2025, Morénon has ambitious plans for the continued improvement of Monaco’s railway infrastructure. These include replacing aging elevators to increase capacity and launching a large-scale project to upgrade station signage and optimise traffic flow. The goal is to further enhance the traveler experience while maintaining the station’s position as a model of innovation.
The impact of these initiatives is already evident, with recent surveys indicating that more than 80 percent of travellers are satisfied with the services provided at the Monaco station. This accomplishment underscores Morénon’s commitment to delivering excellence in transportation and customer service.
In addition to his work in Monaco, Morénon serves as the president of the International Union of Railways and a municipal councilor in Vallauris. During the ceremony in Paris, he expressed heartfelt thanks to those who have supported him throughout his career, emphasising the collaborative nature of his achievements.
