This distinction underscores Monaco’s exemplary efforts in managing energy and climate policies while advancing its energy transition goals. With this achievement, Monaco joins a select group of territories recognized for their commitment to sustainability and environmental excellence.

The EEA Gold label honours territories actively working to reduce carbon emissions, preserve biodiversity, and adapt to climate change. It highlights the success of Monaco’s concrete initiatives to implement a sustainable, efficient, and innovative energy strategy as part of its Climate Air Energy Plan.

Led by Monaco’s Environment Department, the achievement reflects a collaborative, cross-functional effort between various government departments, services, and Monaco City Hall. This collective approach ensured the ambitious targets were met, further solidifying Monaco’s reputation as a leader in environmental action both nationally and internationally.

The award ceremony took place in Bolzano, Italy, on November 28, where Monaco’s commitment to achieving tangible, measurable progress in its energy transition was formally recognized. As a decision-making member of the EEA Association alongside countries such as Germany, France, and Switzerland, Monaco’s achievement sets a benchmark for environmental governance and energy policy excellence.

This milestone demonstrates Monaco’s dedication to building a sustainable future, serving as an inspiration for other nations striving to combat climate change and protect natural resources for generations to come.
