Monaco has introduced a new service to support elderly residents experiencing reduced autonomy: nighttime mobile care. Developed by the Principality’s Center for Geriatric Coordination (CCGM), this new initiative is the first of its kind in Monaco and aims to provide personalised nighttime assistance to seniors while offering essential support to their caregivers.
The service is designed to enable older individuals to remain in their homes under optimal conditions. Caregivers make short visits during the night, lasting up to 45 minutes and occurring once or twice depending on the needs assessed during a geriatric evaluation conducted by the CCGM During these visits, trained professionals ensure the safety and well-being of the seniors by performing tasks such as checking the home’s security, monitoring medication intake, easing nighttime anxieties, assisting with hygiene routines, and addressing mobility or toilet needs.
In addition to improving the quality of life for seniors, this initiative offers critical relief to family members and caregivers who often face the strain of providing constant support.
