On Saturday, November 30, the Principality of Monaco was transformed into a dazzling display of holiday lights…
The Princely Couple and their children, Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, officially inaugurated the city’s illuminations during a delightful ceremony on the Place du Palais Princier. Joining the family were Camille Gottlieb, Mélanie-Antoinette de Massy, Mayor Georges Marsan, members of the Communal Council, and high-ranking officials from Monaco.
The event began with an address by Mayor Marsan, who expressed his pride in being part of this cherished tradition from the iconic setting of the Prince’s Palace. “It is a great honour for us to illuminate the city from this place that symbolizes the unity of our community under its Sovereign,” he said, emphasizing the special significance of the occasion.
The highlight of the evening came when Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella, guided by their parents, placed their hands on the ceremonial buzzer to light up Monaco. Instantly, the city was aglow with festive decorations, including the Prince’s Palace, the Carabinieri barracks, the vitribulle, and countless other landmarks. The ceremony concluded with two enchanting Christmas songs performed by the Municipal Orchestra, adding a magical touch to the celebration.
This year’s display includes 87 transversal motifs, 410 lamp post decorations, and 25 new scenographies, all featuring energy-efficient LED lights. The initiative reflects Monaco’s long-standing commitment to sustainability, with the illuminations set to shine until January 5, 2025. The spectacular evening captured the spirit of unity and joy, marking the start of the holiday season in the Principality.
