Barcelona marked a historic win for two members of the Yacht Club de Monaco as Emirates Team New Zealand, led by Matteo de Nora, clinched victory at the 37th America’s Cup. The triumph showcased Monaco’s prominence on the global sailing stage, with the team securing a decisive win over Ineos Britannia, helmed by YCM member Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

In attendance for the event’s thrilling final were HSH Prince Albert, YCM’s president, and his nephew, YCM vice-president Pierre Casiraghi, both proud witnesses to the success of Monaco’s representatives. Also present was Bernard d’Alessandri, YCM’s Secretary General, who expressed pride in seeing two YCM members compete at this level. “I salute the determination of the New Zealanders, who remain the best team in this event’s history. But we must also highlight the skill of Ineos Britannia, who fought fiercely and came close to victory in each regatta,” he noted.

The win marks Emirates Team New Zealand’s third consecutive and fifth overall America’s Cup victory, solidifying their dominance. Their expertise with AC75 vessels and skill in navigating Barcelona’s challenging waters once again underscored their technical and strategic prowess. For Monaco and its Yacht Club, this moment not only celebrates their members’ exceptional achievements but also reinforces the Principality’s influence in elite international sailing.
