The Guides and Scouts of Monaco recently gathered in Casterino Paradisio, near Tende, to kick off their latest project: a humanitarian mission to Argentina in 2025…
The gathering, which brought together a hundred scouts and guides, showcased the association’s commitment to community service and cohesion. Over the years, the scouts have undertaken various projects, including building a bridge in the Mercantour region and constructing a large communal table in Casterino, now used by locals and visitors alike.
Their upcoming trip, scheduled for August 1-17, 2025, will take them to the Chaco province of Argentina, where they will build a kitchen for a school in the remote area of Misiòn Nueva Pompeya, near the forest of “El Impenetrable.” The project will include meetings with Argentinian scouts, equipment donations, and the creation of an intercultural exchange booklet in three languages. This initiative is being organized in collaboration with the NGO Haciendo Camino, the Association Monaco Argentina (AMA), the Cordon d’Or (brotherhood of cooks in Monaco), and the Prince’s Palace.
To celebrate the start of this ambitious venture, the scouts enjoyed a barbecue prepared by renowned Argentinian chef Mauro Colagreco, owner of the three-Michelin-starred Mirazur restaurant in Menton. Colagreco lent his equipment and cooked a typical Argentine meal for the scouts, featuring 70 kg of meat and vegetables.
The project will require significant funding, with a target of 20,000 euros. To achieve this, the scouts have planned various fundraising activities, including charity galas, dinner buffets, a lottery, and an auction. Supporters and donors are encouraged to contribute to this worthy cause, which aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of the Wichis and Qom indigenous communities in Argentina.
