Thomas Brezzo, President of Monaco’s National Council, has been charged with complicity in violating the secrecy of an investigation linked to an armed robbery at Monaco Watch Company in May. The robbery, which saw thieves steal luxury watches worth 4.6 million euros, remains unsolved.

Brezzo, a former legal advisor for the store, allegedly used his contacts in the police to ensure all leads were pursued.

Brezzo, who stepped away from his legal practice after his election as National Council President, denies the charges, asserting that he merely provided advice to a former client. His lawyer, Arnaud Zabaldano, confirmed that Brezzo is confident in his defense and emphasised that the allegations are unrelated to his public role.

The investigation into the robbery has also implicated a policewoman, suspected of involvement in the breach of confidentiality.
