The 29th edition of the European Heritage Days took place on, Sunday, September 15, under sunny skies, celebrating the theme “Routes, Networks, and Connections.” Organised by the Institute of Heritage and overseen by Monaco’s Directorate of Cultural Affairs, the event attracted a diverse crowd of locals, neighbouring residents, and tourists.

Four key communal sites opened their doors to the public: the Monaco Town Hall, the Rainier III Academy, the Botanical Center, and the Pavillon Bosio School of Fine Arts. These locations offered a mix of guided tours and open access, welcoming a total of 719 visitors.

The Monaco Town Hall saw the highest attendance with 475 visitors. Guests were treated to a tour of the Marriage Hall, the new Council Room, and an exhibition of rare documents from the Monaco Media Library’s heritage collection. Additionally, the U Cantin d’A Roca choir performed two concerts in the Monégasque language. A photo booth in the Council Room allowed 281 attendees to take home a souvenir of the day. Throughout the event, members of the Municipal Council were present to engage with visitors.

At the Rainier III Academy, 40 guests enjoyed guided tours, including a visit to the Lutherie workshop, rehearsals of the Wind Orchestra, and demonstrations of instruments such as electric guitar, viola da gamba, accordion, and electroacoustic music, with enthusiastic professors showcasing their expertise.

Meanwhile, 114 art appreciators visited the Pavillon Bosio School of Fine Arts to view the fourth edition of the Garden Club exhibition, titled “Dances of the Eye. Dance Shows Me That Seeing is a Dance.” This exhibition, part of a new program curated by students, captivated attendees with an innovative approach.

The Botanical Center at the Jardin Exotique welcomed 90 visitors for guided tours, while the Terres Méditerranéennes association organised workshops at Parc Princesse Antoinette, delighting many young children.

The Municipality of Monaco deemed this year’s European Heritage Days a resounding success, with strong attendance and enthusiastic participation across all sites.
