One of the special traditions of the International German Club of Monaco is that during the year, members invite other members of the Club for a private event. Very recently, Patrick Wetzel, Co-President of the Club, and his wife Yu-Ra Wetzel invited the members of the CAI to an excursion to the Old Village of Mougins.

The participants were able to discover Mougins, a village of Roman origin, with alleys built in concentric circles, very popular with many artists and personalities, such as Fernand Léger, Paul Éluard, Robert Desnos, Jean Cocteau, Isadora Duncan, Man Ray and Pablo Picasso as well as by great starred chefs such as Roger Vergé and Alain Ducasse.

The first stop was a private and guided tour of the new FAMM museum, inaugurated last June, and dedicated to women artists. The museum shows high-quality works from the collection of Christian Levett, banker, billionaire and great patron. Exhibited on four floors are paintings, sculptures and photographs of women artists such as Frida Kahlo, Dora Maar, Niki de Saint Phalle, Lee Krasner, Louise Bourgeois, Léonor Fini and Françoise Gilot. A real surprise for all.

Following the visit, the members of the Club met at the restaurant “La Place de Mougins” of Chef Denis Fetisson, which was privatised for the day. A gastronomic menu specially designed for the occasion was served, accompanied by a welcome glass of champagne. In a good atmosphere, the members of the Club were able to exchange their impressions and discover new flavours. Carmen Schall, Vice-President of the CAI, thanked Patrick and Yu-Ra Wetzel for this generous invitation on behalf of all the members present.
