Lionel Beffre, Monaco’s new Minister of Interior, conducted an official visit to the Corps des Sapeurs-Pompiers de Monaco on Friday, August 23. The visit began at the La Condamine Fire Station, where Beffre was welcomed by Lieutenant Colonel Maxime Yvrard, the Chief of the Fire Brigade, along with Colonel Tony Varo, the Superior Commander of the Public Force.
During the visit, Beffre reviewed the troops, who were proudly donning their new work and firefighting uniforms for the first time. He then attended a comprehensive presentation of the event management center, the operations command center, and the fire brigade’s state-of-the-art equipment.
Throughout the day, Beffre observed several field exercises, showcasing the professionalism, meticulous preparation, technical expertise, and operational efficiency of Monaco’s specialized units. Among the demonstrations was the SAFFIRE system, used for fire smoke and reconnaissance training, as well as the High-Risk Rescue Intervention Group (GSIP), the Reconnaissance and Command Assistance Drone (DRAC), and the Debris Rescue Intervention Group (GISD) at Fort Masséna.
Beffre also experienced the capabilities of the fire and rescue boat ‘Prince Jacques’ during a sea navigation exercise at Port Hercule. The visit concluded at the Fontvieille Fire Station with a demonstration by the Technological Risk Intervention Group (GIRT). Beffre ended his visit by signing the Fire Brigade’s Golden Book, marking his appreciation for their service.
