On Wednesday, August 21, a large number of AS Monaco supporters gathered at the AS Monaco Village on Port Hercule to meet football legend Delio Onnis and Norbert Siri, the author of the recently released book celebrating the 100th anniversary of AS Monaco. This event was part of the ongoing festivities commemorating the club’s centenary.
Following an appearance by Christian Mawissa on Tuesday, the AS Monaco Village hosted this special book signing session on Wednesday. The book, which has been available for a week both in the club’s official store and online, was showcased by its author, Norbert Siri, alongside Delio Onnis, the club’s all-time top scorer.
Thiago Scuro, Monaco’s General Manager, emphasised the significance of the book during the event, noting that it is a key project for the centenary celebrations. He highlighted the book’s dedication to the many figures who have shaped the club’s history, including HSH Prince Albert and club President Dmitry Rybolovlev, both of whom wrote the book’s preface. Scuro also pointed out the inclusion of testimonials from fan groups, making it a special and enduring tribute to the club’s legacy.
For nearly an hour, fans of all ages had the chance to interact with Siri and Onnis, reminiscing about the club’s storied past and getting their copies of the book signed. Onnis expressed his gratitude and fondness for the Monaco supporters, describing the event as a moving experience that brought back many cherished memories.
Earlier in the day, Norbert Siri presented the book to young players at La Diagonale, the club’s academy. In the presence of Academy Director Sébastien Muet, U17 coach Manu Dos Santos, and other staff members, Siri engaged with the young talents, sharing insights about the club’s history and his passion for Monaco. The session provided a valuable opportunity for the young players to connect with the club’s rich heritage.
The AS Monaco Village, a hub of activities celebrating the club’s 100th anniversary, remains open until Sunday, August 25. Located on Port Hercule’s Quai Albert 1er, the village offers a variety of activities for fans and visitors, including football matches on a mini pitch, precision competitions, quizzes, and more. A pop-up shop featuring the new 2024-25 jerseys is also available, with goodies up for grabs every afternoon. The event is free and open to all.
