The Department of Urban Planning and Mobility (DPUM) is considering a gradual redesign of Monaco’s historic Condamine district. While still in the planning phase, the initiative aims to enhance the area’s appeal and functionality.

Led by Pascal Rouanet, the DPUM seeks to balance traditional elements with modern needs. “We noticed the district’s varied atmospheres, with some parts deserving preservation and others needing improvement,” Rouanet explained. The plan involves leveraging private investment to transform the area into a more qualitative space that better serves its residents and visitors.

The process will result in new regulations guiding future development. These regulations will dictate specific requirements, such as designated areas for offices, shops, public facilities, and green spaces. Developers will need to adhere to these guidelines, ensuring that new projects align with the overall vision for La Condamine.

The DPUM’s regulatory framework will evolve with ongoing and future projects, setting clear parameters for height, setbacks, and other design elements to maintain the district’s character and improve its infrastructure.
