A driver from Monaco faced severe consequences after being caught speeding excessively on the A89 motorway in Dordogne. His vehicle was immobilized, and his license was revoked on the spot.

The incident occurred during the busy holiday crossover between July and August. On the afternoon of Sunday, August 4, traffic was at its peak when a Cupra car registered in Monaco was stopped at the Mussidan toll booth by the Saint-Astier motorised squad, according to reports from France Bleu Périgord.

The driver was clocked at 199 km/h in a 110 km/h zone, exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h. The police, using binoculars, had identified the speeding vehicle moments before pulling it over. As a result, the driver’s license was immediately revoked, and his car was immobilized.

Awaiting a court decision, the driver will have ample time to reflect on the incident without the convenience of his vehicle.
